Back to School!

Let's make sure every child starts school with what they need!

July 31, 2025

Dear MCCF friends,

Back-to-school should be exciting. But for too many kids in our community, it’s a time of stress.

They’re showing up without backpacks. Without socks or underwear. Some don’t have clean clothes, a reliable way to get to school, or even access to regular meals or a shower.

This is where your support changes everything.

With your help, we’re making sure kids have what they need to start the school year with confidence and dignity, so they can focus on learning.

Last year our annual Back-to-School Events in August provided 872 kids with new backpacks, socks, underwear, hoodies, and Feet First shoe certificates.

Your donation helps cover the costs of basics for local kids, such as:

Toiletries

dental hygiene, tampons and pads, shampoo, soap, and deodorant

Healthy snacks and breakfasts

yogurt, protein bars, meat sticks, chocolate milk, and
cheese sticks kept in school counselors’ and social workers’ offices

Laundry detergent

so they can show up clean

Bus passes

so they can actually get to school

Gym vouchers to CV Starr

(referred through teachers and school counselors)
to give kids a place to work out, and also to access regular shower

Each year we provide our two school districts with ”SOS” money for school counselors to use at their discretion in emergency situations, to ensure that kids are included in events and activities that they cannot otherwise afford, or for personal needs of a child. We also provide them with gas cards and Harvest Market vouchers for urgent needs.

These aren’t extras. These are the essentials — and they make it possible for kids to focus on school, to build friendships, and to thrive.

Our Back-to-School events in August need your contribution. Any donation helps. No amount is too small.

We're proud to recognize donations from our generous, long-standing community sponsors:

Their gifts lay the foundation. Yours put it all into action.

Let’s make sure every child starts school with what they need — not what they’re missing.
Thank you for showing up for them.

With much appreciation from the MCCF Board of Directors--
